Just returned from the Marina to look at the follow up job on my boat. Wow! Job well done! Another satisfied customer. I must say it has been awhile since I have dealt with a company of your caliber. You have been awesome to deal with since day one! Your reviews definitely spoke the truth.

You really are one of the only service folks down there that seems to reply and respond as questions get asked. It truly is a rare customer service level you keep. It’s amazing how poor others are at it.

I must say that DMS has been at the top of its game this launch season. Very satisfied customer.
Thanks so much for doing everything you can to get me on the water. You’ve been fair, reasonable and profoundly helpful. I really appreciate all you’ve done.
This is my 40th season on this boat. We’ve tried to maintain and update it, but even the updates are getting on in years. Nice to know you guys have my back.

Not only am I extremely impressed with your service and technical skills (including Brook’s), but your integrity is impeccable.
Mario did a first class job installing the new rudder on my boat. He was knowledgeable, tireless, and determined to do a perfect fit. There was a minor setback with some fiberglass that refused to harden but your staff rose to the situation, replaced the questionable patch, delayed the launch, and finished the project at full speed. I am pleased with the results and you are welcome to use me as a reference if you have a future customer with a similar project.

I just wanted to let you know that the guys did a great job on the repair. Looks fantastic, and moreover, it was a pleasure to deal with you guys. I haven’t had such a great customer service experience in a long, long time. You all were extremely responsive via email…gave me a precise estimate (that you BEAT, which is always nice)…and regularly updated me on progress without being prompted. You’ve won a client for life. Thank you for your attention to detail and fantastic communication…very, very much appreciated.

After considering several marine yards for my intended hull upgrades, gathering estimates and comparing the quality of work, I selected Diversified Marine Services, Inc. to undertake Sassafras hull bottom inspection and reconditioning, a new Awlgrip topside color finish, and restoring her teak rub rail and cap rail, an inclusive undertaking keel to toe rail. I live more than 2,000 miles away and was in contact with Thomas Kicklighter via email with pictures with less than a days delay. His timely updates instilled confidence that the work was progressing on time and in excellent fashion. A few unanticipated optional items were addressed with knowledge and understanding. Clear suggestions of improvements were appropriate and welcomed. After six months away from Sassafras, I was greatly pleased by the quality and brilliance of the result. I highly regard the work performed at Diversified Marine Services and the care in keeping me informed along the way.
Thank you Thomas and crew, a great job!
Team Diversified really came through on the superb hull restoration as well as a multitude of other fixes & tweaks on REELAXIN, our Tiara 32. We couldn’t be more pleased. Thanks to Matt, Frank and the entire crew!

It has been more than a year since you did your fabulous work on Tranquility, my 46 ft. sailboat, and restored her to “new” condition. I was quite impressed that a diver who works on Traquility asked me when I got my new boat. As you know, Tranquility is 17 years old.
The internal work was equally spectacular. I love the Corian countertop and the other woodwork that was done internally.
Just wanted to let you know how much I continue to appreciate the outstanding work that you did.

While returning from New England in July, 2014 on our Sabre 42 Express powerboat, “SHIBUMI”, we experienced significant fiberglass and gelcoat damage while attempting to enter a marina on the Mannesquan River in NJ during a heavy current in the midst of a violent thunderstorm.
Upon returning to Annapolis, we interviewed several marine contractors, including Tom Kicklighter of Diversified Marine Services , requesting bids to repair the boat. Within a couple of days, Tom had examined the boat and prepared a detailed , written cost estimate which we accepted.
Within a few more days, “SHIBUMI” was in DMS’s tent undergoing the specified repairs. Tom kept us completely informed every step of the way with emails and photos. In addition, he immediately informed us of any costs in excess of the estimate, which, by the way, totaled 6.3% of the estimate.
The work was completed in the agreed upon time to our complete satisfaction. The boat is painted in Flag Blue Awlgrip. The gelcoat/paint repairs perfectly blend in with the original paint. The fiberglass repairs look terrific.
We were very pleased with the entire DMS crew, timeliness in completing the repairs and with the quality of the overall work. We would recommend DMS without hesitation.

We wanted you to know how pleased we are with the work Matt Jones has done on our Privilege catamaran. We purchased it two years ago with plan to go cruising this fall after having accomplished as many refits as necessary. This was a little extra touch but, I’m sure it will bring lots of return, a lovely place to work and a joy to see. From the our first contact with you regarding an estimate, our working relationship has been a pleasure. Many affairs concerning boats can be frustrating and confusing but, this was a pleasure. We never had to wonder what was going on with our project, Matt always kept us completely informed in a very timely manner. My wife had very specific ideas about the color of the new Corian countertops, in fact, when we couldn’t find a suitable color in the Corian line Matt worked with us to find a different source for LG HI Macs; many would have said its Corian or nothing. Going from formica to a “Corian” top with new Formica blacksplashes had some challenges, all which were handled with great creativity and workmanship. The end result speaks for itself, its gorgeous, we couldn’t be more pleased.
We also appreciate the professionalism we have experienced working with your company and members of your team. I was fortunate to meet Frank Hoot while he surveyed our dual helm hydraulic system for possible repair items, shortly thereafter, we received a detailed written report. As I have very little experience with hydraulic steering, this was a blessing.
Feel free to post this if you wish, I would add Matt’s before and after pictures. They are very dramatic!
Thank you so much,
Bill and Stacy Yorde
I have Selene 48′ trawler. The Taiwanese carpenters are hard to match. But, I think Matt may just have given them some competition. He took a sample of our drawer front and matched it to perfection. That wasn’t an easy task with all the fine detail. He was even able to match the Ebony inlay on the cabinet top. His measurements were perfect and the cabinet fits beautifully. You know how…boats have more angles than geometry.
We had a time deadline of heading South. Matt made that deadline, working nights and weekends. He managed to get it completed right on time. I have loved all the new storage this cabinet has given me for the galley. There is lots of space remaining to maneuver the passage from the saloon to the pilot house because of Matt’s careful calculations.
I highly recommend Matt for any fine cabinetry work you need done. [He] does superior work. Selene is a top of the line trawler, so only the best would do. The job is perfect. I required a lot of special dimensions to meet my storage needs for the galley. Every need has been met. M/V Orient Moon

Job order: Remove interior. Cut out and remove black Iron fuel tank. Design and dry fit new fuel tank mock up. Fabricate new tank – epoxy coat. Installation – plumb – test – assemble interior. Clean work area & report.
Client feedback: “The boat looks fantastic, everything was clean and one would never know the heavy dirty mess that was involved with this project. I turned over the engine, threw the dock lines off and had a couple hours on the bay, all systems go. I want to express my appreciation for the quality of the work DMS always does on Garza Grande and the professional attitude from all who work on my boat.”
Thanks to all.
I‘m writing this letter to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Matt Jones and Diversified Marine Services Inc., in Annapolis, Maryland for the attention they gave us, their response time, and the professionalism shown with respect to some recent boat repairs.
Our Formica galley countertop had begun to delaminate and despite my attempts, refused to be re-adhered. Some of the aft closet frames had also begun to warp and crack, and we noticed some fiberglass cracks developing in the aft bulkhead area, which I had related to potentially putting the boat on our lift improperly.
We had been trying for over 6 months to get someone to assess the problems and propose a solution to the bulkhead cracks, which were our biggest concern. We had contacted a recommended boat surveyor that said he was familiar with our boat. He came out to view the problem but it was clear that he was hesitant to make repair recommendations, and we were referred to another local marine services shop in the area, who we contacted. We were advised by that shop that they would consult with the surveyor on how to proceed, but repeated calls to the surveyor and the shop met with no returned calls and no suggestions on what to do.
Our boat is a Gemini catamaran 105Mc sailboat, and the manufacturer, Performance Cruising, referred us to Diversified Marine, who assigned Matt to assess the problems. Matt was very responsive and professional, and his experience and familiarity with our boat were invaluable. He provided us with a detailed assessment of what he thought the causes of the problems were and what he would do to address them. He assured us that we had not caused the problem, convinced us that we were not in any imminent danger of sinking, that it was not a unique problem, it could be repaired in a reasonable timeframe at our dock, and we were free to view the process and ask questions as the work progressed.
Matt provided us with a written cost estimate and a detailed write up of the work to be done. At the end of every visit, he kept us informed by Email with a written summary of what had been done and what was the next step. He kept us advised us of his schedule and called everyday before he came out.
With respect to the galley counter top, we had independently investigated the possibility of replacing the existing Formica top with a half-inch Corian material. Matt told us that he had experience in working with Corian, and had made some counter tops for some other boats. He checked into colors and prices for us, trying to find a least expensive option. Matt also offered some suggestions on how we might reduce costs and slightly expand the counter space, allowing us a larger sink.
The galley counter top fit perfectly, including a small shelf behind the stove. No seams were visible and custom Corian covers were made from the sink and storage area cutouts. It looks great and we couldn’t be happier.
The bulkhead repairs proved a little more challenging than anticipated and soon after beginning repairs Matt concluded that something was amiss. He discovered that a “keel board” had delaminated beneath the cabin flooring, which explained a majority of the fiberglass and closet frame cracks. He re-laminated the board in place, reassembled the floor and completed the bulkhead repairs within a few days. We have been out sailing again and everything appears to be holding together very well.
We’re very pleased with the work done and would highly recommend Diversified Marine to anyone. Thanks again, Matt.

I very much appreciate all of the work you and your crew undertook in helping restore Paikea to better-than-new condition. Your professionalism, communication, and work ethic was beyond impressive, and I never had to worry about the outcome of each step of the project. I was particularly pleased with your crew’s uncanny ability to identify problems – and solutions – before I even discovered the issue.
Moreover, the update photos and Facebook posts kept me abreast of each detail even when I could not inspect the boat in person. i can assure you that I will recommend Diversified with high praise to my many boating friends and neighbors!

Last year, my wife and I bought our 1982 Swan 391 on the Great Lakes and sailed her to the east coast. Getting the boat into Chesapeake Bay was a first step in pursuing the dream of some extended cruising. As a budget-conscious boat owner, I do the work that I can myself, but we needed some professional help and I can’t speak highly enough of my experience with Tom, Matt and the Diversified team.
The initial work I contracted was simply to remove the old (fresh water) bottom paint and barrier so that I could re-paint for brackish/salt. Diversified did a first class job, and as added value for me, they provided excellent input for my work repainting. Based on that success, before launch, I had them complete several gelcoat repairs, including preparation of the transom for the new name. I was amazed at the quality (and color match) of the final work.
Unexpectedly upon launch, a problem showed up in our shaft log requiring an emergency haul. In short order, Tom’s team was able to diagnose the problem, remove the shaft, complete fiberglass work, and get us back in the water with a very solid upgrade to this vulnerable part of our hull. This work was a nasty (off-budget) surprise for me, and they got us through it professionally, competently, and I was treated extremely fairly.
The reliability and integrity of the capable technicians at Diversified is as solid as I could hope for, and I’ve been very pleased with every aspect of their effort. While I’m hopeful that their services won’t be needed often, I feel much better knowing that they’re available.
Thank you gentlemen,

Here’s some good news:
I need to share my experience with this professional run outfit. I’ve had occasion to have them work on my diesel (25hp Universal) several times over the past couple years. Most recently, this past week, I had an issue with a heat exchanger bracket and a stuck pencil zinc. Although they had their techs fully booked for the next two weeks, they found the time to fit in that repair and did so in a way that avoided an expensive replacement. Two days from request to job done – and they sent pictures knowing I’m some distance from the boat.
This is the 4th such timely and cost-sensitive service I’ve received from them in the past couple years.
Valinor and I appreciate this professional and friendly service, and felt the need to share! … and, no, I don’t own any part of it

Thanks for your terrific work on “Cato” both last winter and over the years we have owned her. Matt’s terrific Lexan main hatch panels came out looking so nice the owner of the Hinckley across the dock demanded to know where we got them so he could have you make some for him (his came out pretty nice too).
There were some “ships carpentry” items that were past my skill level. Head door hinges etc. They made it onto last winter’s “list” and you guys did a superb job with them. Finally I want to praise your electrical work in replacing and upgrading the lighting and other electrical systems aboard “Cato”. My engine compartment with its new light is now a pleasure to work in.
This past year with all systems in perfect running order Melissa and I used “Cato” more than ever before, including viewing the Lights Parade from the water for the first time with fresh cookies coming out of the ship’s oven. I had a beautiful singlehanded cruise late in the season where the ship’s systems performed flawlessly. The best advice I can give a boat owner who asks me about a repair or upgrade is, “talk to Tom!”
Not being from the Annapolis area, when I found ALTAIR, (renamed MIRACLE), bidding on her from afar was daunting. I looked on several websites, and found Tom Kicklighter and Diversified Marine. Tom acted as my proxy, and without any motivation other than just doing the right thing, Tom took moisture meter readings and sent me 30+ pictures of the boat, and then called me to debrief me on what he found. He helped me clearly see the difference between the marketing pictures and what she really looked like, and helped me understand the body of work that needed to be completed, before I committed to buy the boat.
Once we closed on the purchase Tom took on the project of completing essential and recommended repairs with vigor. The boat left Annapolis on her delivery north with all work completed on time, and beautifully done. Tom also recommended riggers, engine and fuel people, and others to do work Diversified does not do. Tom is very honest about what Diversified is good at, and where you should go to get work done that is not within their skill set. He even told us about great restaurants, and helped us with dropping off rental cars, and other little things that went above and beyond what he needed to do for us. His recommendations were sound, and the work done was terrific all around. Tom’s people communicated via phone, email, and with pictures constantly.
Even though I was in Boston for the whole job, I never felt out of the loop. I couldn’t recommend Tom and the team at Diversified more enthusiastically.

One seldom encounters a business dedicated to superb quality of work, coupled with on-time performance at a fair price. Diversified Marine Service is such a company.
With a three week trip out of town, FROLIC was hauled in August for some minor gel coat repair and an awlgrip paint job. The deep luster of the flag blue paint is phenomenal.
We could not be more pleased.
Last fall my 1997 Gemini 105M was struck by lightning. Almost everything electrical was damaged, and the electronics were fried. Frank Hoot came on board, assessed the damage, developed a plan and executed it perfectly.
Not only was he able to identify the lightning problems, he identified and correct electrical issues carried over from the manufacturer. He brought the boat up to current ABYC standards. This was all done as part of the plan. He also helped me deal with an extremely difficult vendor. The work was done quickly, cleanly, and timely, meeting my somewhat bizarre time schedule.
The “TWO ALARM” is alive and well and the credit goes to Frank Hoot and Diversified Marine Services. I am a happy boater again.

I just wanted to send along a testimonial to complement the recent restoration job your group did on my 50″ Cranchi Mediteranee express cruiser.
Matt and the other members of your team did an outstanding job in planning and executing the project which included repairing. prepping and painting the entire hull with Awlgrip. This included some redesign of the paint scheme for the boat and the final results were just beautiful. Our 9-year old boat looks better than it did the day it was delivered new.
Communication was excellent with email and pictures of the job as it progressed and the entire team at Diversified went above and beyond in a very professional manner. I would highly recommend your work to anyone who wants top quality work on their boat.

The last year has been packed with preparations for the Annapolis to Bermuda Ocean Race. Of course we left the Electronics until the last minute, and I can’t tell you how grateful we are for the hard work you guys did in the last month. You installed our entire RayMarine electronics suite, and the speed and precision with which your team finished the work was remarkable. Our expectations were hugely exceeded!!
Thank you for your customer service, and you will always be our first choice for work on the boat. Thank you.

It is with a very great deal of pleasure that I commend you, Matt and your crew for the superb, eye-catching paint job you accomplished on my 34 year old Ranger 22 “FIREWORKS”. You didn’t just restore her to her glory days, you have eclipsed, by a huge margin, the best she has ever looked, even brand new. It was better bringing her home this time than the very first time I brought her home.
In addition, the way you conduct business completely complements your excellent results. Your cost and execution time estimates were complete and accurate. More importantly, you kept me informed every step of the way using e-mails and photos and invited me to personally observe progress at any time. I did so willingly because it was clear from you and your crew that I was welcome to do so and it was not an encumbrance or annoyance. I feel I’ve experienced a great business doing high quality work, and made some new friends as well. It has been tremendous having Diversified Marine Services work on my boat and will not hesitate to come back.

2011 restoration project
“Oyster Stew” is a 1978 Wasque 32. She has an excellent pedigree, but needed some work. The hull, originally painted flag blue in 2000 was in need of freshening. The decks needed to be repainted, and the doghouse was oxidizing. Diversified Marine was able to get me into the schedule and started working on her in December 2010. What started out as basic cosmetics quickly turned into a major project when rot was found in the doghouse.
Tom kept me abreast of the progress through pictures and went above and beyond in communicating the status of repairs. Instead of just removing hardware, painting and reinstalling, he replaced the hardware to Bristol condition. When asked to check the progress of work, he quickly made staff available to show the status of each element of the project.
Oyster Stew was re-launched in February 2011 and has never looked better. The quality of the work was exemplary, and the care the staff gave this old boat was astounding. I am impressed with the finished product and pleased with the overall cost of repairs. Diversified Marine took the guess work out of the project and delivered on all counts. I would recommend Diversified to anyone looking for quality, dependable work.

My 1996 J/105 had a badly oxidized gel coat, faded decks and several small cracks in the fiberglass decking. I hired Diversified Marine to perform this major restoration for several reasons:
- Quality workmanship: Diversified Marine took the time to lay out his process to restore the boat in detail. It became evident to me that DMS would not take any shortcuts that would lead to a sub-standard job. Throughout the restoration, Tom immediately addressed anything he felt could compromise the end product, which ultimately led to a spectacular result.
- Customer-orientation: Tom was incredibly accessible and responsive throughout both the work specifications development and restoration process. He would always provide options and was more than willing to work within a budget. Tom made it clear that his #1 goal was for me to be satisfied with the end-product, and he went to extreme lengths to see that I was.
- Value: I am convinced that I received the best possible job for my money. I wouldn’t consider another shop for future work!
